11th Annual Invisible Ribbon Gala Makes History
TRENTON, ON – Monday, May 11, 2015 - The Trenton Military Family Resource Centre hosted their 11th Annual Invisible Ribbon Gala this past Saturday night and it was a resounding success.
Over 310 guests attended, making it the first time tickets sold out in its 11 years. Another first for the Invisible Ribbon Gala was raising the most amount of money in its history, surpassing previous years and raising over $87,000.
The evening featured a delicious three course dinner catered by Celebrations by Linda May and Chef Michael Hoy, paired with local wines generously donated by wineries in Prince Edward County; a special performance of the Gala’s new theme song “Invisible Ribbon”; a memorable speech by Capt (Rtd) Jane Foster, a former fighter pilot in the CAF; and, silent and live auctions. 12 items were on the auction block, including a unique package from 8 Wing Commander, Col. Lowthian called Execu-Trek, that allows the highest bidder to join “VIP Recruits” for a day in the life of a CAF member with high intensity activity training including flying operations with one of 8 Wing’s operational squadrons.
The Trenton MFRC also hosted their first Online Auction as part of the Invisible Ribbon Gala campaign and it was a great triumph.
Hosted on Facebook, participants were able to browse and bid on over 46 items generously donated by sponsors of the 11th Annual Invisible Ribbon Gala. By Monday night, when the Auction closed at 9 p.m., over 260 individuals had requested to join the Facebook page. The Online Auction raised a total of $2419.
All money raised from the Online Auction and the Invisible Ribbon Gala is dedicated to supporting the essential programs and services offered to military families by the MFRC.
